flip Flop

It’s been so interesting to witness the hyper-adoption of flip video cameras. Why? Because it’s not new technology – it’s just bundled differently. And flip came along at the perfect time, as people are no longer passive or isolated consumers of content – they’re also creating it in the midst of connected communities. Facebook Flops (Part 1)

I bet you thought this day would never come – for someone who spends most of his life on Facebook (not all vicariously), I should certainly have some examples of people and companies using the social network in unreasonably awkward ways. In fact, I do. Too many for just one post, so you’ll have to stay tuned. Almost all of the gaffes are because people forget that suitable offline behavior should translate onto Facebook. I  see it time and again. Companies who neglect the effect social media has – or should have – on all of the other ways they communicate with their customers. I don’t care if you are B2B or B2C – your organization is made up of people, and you’re serving people. Stop continuing to be so stodgy or self-promotional – customers are turned off by and see right through it. It’s such an opportune time for companies to take a fresh look at how consistently authentic and human they are with regard to ALL of the ways they communicate their message.
